SHOCK! Coronation Street star Eileen Derbyshire receives treatment after on-set fire

Actress hurt during filming

Eileen Derbyshire is the soap's longest-serving actress

Coronation Street's Eileen Derbyshire had a nasty shock when her clothes caught light during filming on Wednesday.

The 80-year-old actress, who plays Emily Bishop, was recording scenes for the soap's Bonfire Night episode.

'It was a scary moment,' says a source.

'She got too close to the candle and her clothes went up in flames.'

A crew member is said to have rushed on set to spray Eileen with a fire extinguisher before she was taken to a medic.

The incident delayed filming for the day, but the veteran actress is now recovered and back at work.

'She was lucky someone on the crew acted so quickly. Thankfully, she didn't get burned,' the source tells the Daily Record.

A Coronation Street spokesman confirmed the fire: 'It was a minor incident and no one was in serious danger.'
