Vince Morse is still hoping Jessie Wallace will take him back.
He knows her feelings for him haven't changed, even though he was a stupid idiot for sending ex Karen Short a private saucy picture of the EastEnders actress.
'Jessie believes Vince was the man of her dreams and her final chance to have another baby,' reveals our source.
'Now she's been so badly burned by the men in her life, she's terrified that'll never happen.'
The devastated star is torn between dumping Vince for good and her dreams of another baby with the man she first met last December.
After calling off her wedding, Jessie, 39, told a pal: ‘I just need to walk away.
'I still love him to bits and probably always will.
'I desperately want to forget what happened but I just can't.'
Catering boss Vince, 50, has been begging for Jess's forgiveness and made his excuses public via a friend, saying: ‘I had this fantasy and I was really drunk.
'Me and Jessie had a silly row and I was angry and tried to make my fantasy a reality by sending Karen that picture.
'It looks like it's destroyed the love of my life. It was probably the most stupid thing I've ever done.
'I'm an idiot. My sordid sex fantasies have ruined my life.
'I accept that she doesn't want to marry me because she said trust was the most important thing to her and I betrayed that, but Jessie is the only woman I want.
'I'd do anything to win her back.'
However close friends say a reunion's highly unlikely and Jessie's now focusing on her beloved daughter.
‘Tallulah will always come first,' says the friend.
‘She's been messed around by every man in her life, except for her dad, who helps look after her daughter.
'This was her third engagement and she believed he was "the one".
I can't see her ever trusting another man again.'
Jessie's love life has been riddled with betrayals and heartbreak.
The actress dated killer David Paris and then Majorca-based ex-criminal Paul Whitworth for three years, but split after BBC bosses warned Paul's association with Reggie Kray was not good for her reputation.
She then had a holiday romance with American Andy Burton, who sold his story.
In 2003 she met policeman Dave Morgan, Tallulah's father, but she ended their engagement with insiders claiming he was tipping off the paparazzi.
Two years later she got engaged to toyboy Tommy O'Neill, who reportedly left Jessie's half-sister Danielle Mason for her, but the relationship ended.
And while friends say Jessie will never get over Vince's actions, the actress is one tough cookie who'll pull through.
‘She'll pick herself up,' says a family friend.
‘She's got Tallulah to think of and plenty of friends and family to help her recover. She's no pushover, mark my words.'
