Cristiano Ronaldo's ex-girlfriend Gemma Atkinson joins Casualty

Gemma Atkinson briefly dated footballer Cristiano Ronaldo in 2007

Gemma Atkinson, the former Hollyoaks actress who dated Cristiano Ronaldo, is joining the cast of Casualty this weekend.

The glam 26-year-old - a lads' mags favourite with her hot bikini body - will now be donning a modest paramedic uniform to play Tamzin Bayle.

'Tamzin is going to bring a touch of glamour to the paramedic team and set some hearts racing in the emergency department,' says show producer Oliver Kent.

Gemma is a regular in FHM's Sexiest Women list but has never posed topless.

Last year she played a housewife in a small theatre production of The Is How It Goes and is now very excited about her venture into medical drama.

'I used to watch [Casualty] as a child,' Gemma tells MailOnline. 'So to be involved is fantastic.'
