Steve Jones had his fingers crossed he'd be chosen to host the US version of The X Factor.
While Dermot O'Leary dropped out of the running, he knew he was still in with a chance.
Now it's been confirmed the Welsh TV presenter, 34, will share the role with Nicole Scherzinger.
'These two are going to be great together,' says Simon Cowell.
'I have always wanted Steve to work with us; I think he is a real star. Nicole is fantastic. I loved working with her on the UK X Factor last year. She is gorgeous and super-talented.'
Nicole, 32, doesn't mind a bit that she'll be co-presenting with Steve.
'I'm so excited to work with Steve Jones and help discover astounding talent from across the country!' says the Pussycat Doll star.
And Steve is obviously made up: 'The ability to work day in and day out with Simon Cowell is a dream come true.
'I am honoured to have that opportunity and thrilled to be able to share the stage with Nicole Scherzinger, whom I adore.'
High School Musical star Corbin Bleu and Enrique Iglesias are believed to have been in the running but Steve and Nicole were chosen because of their onscreen chemistry.
Paula Abdul is expected to be the fourth judge alongside Simon, Cheryl Cole and record executive Antonio LA Reid.
