Desperate Housewives: It's war but Teri's not leaving

Eva and Teri are not happy about new recruit Vanessa's on-set demands

There's nothing like a bit of handbags - designer, naturally - at dawn to liven things up when it comes to the cast of Desperate Housewives.

So you can imagine the excitement at Now HQ when we found out that former Ugly Betty star Vanessa Williams, 47, who plays glamorous diva Renee Perry, is getting it in the neck from her co-stars for bagging all the best outfits on the show.

‘As Vanessa came from Ugly Betty she's used to a certain level of wardrobe in terms of budget,' a show insider tells Now.

‘When she negotiated her contract she made sure clothes by her favourite designers, such as Armani and Diane von Furstenberg, were on the list of what her character will wear.  

‘This has caused a lot of tension, particularly with Eva [Longoria] and Teri [Hatcher].

'Eva believes that because her character Gabrielle has plenty of money, she should be dressed just as glamorously as Vanessa is,' our source adds.

‘It's a lot harder for Teri as her character Susan is supposed to be poor this season so she knows she can't compete.

'But she's demanded that the show's stylists spend thousands on expensive La Perla lingerie for a few of her scenes.'

Despite the tension, Teri has denied reports she will quit Desperate Housewives at the end of 2012.

'There are not enough adjectives to describe how stupid, off base, and ridiculously untrue this [report] is... What disturbs me the most is that one fan would consider for one second that I would 'quit' what has been... one of the highlights of my career for which I am grateful on a daily basis,' Teri says on her Facebook.com page.

'I love DH, the cast and crew are like family and I am with it until it's cancelled.'
