Kian Egan: X Factor band One Direction are just like a young Westlife

Westlife singer Kian Egan says X Factor judge Simon Cowell is doing good job with One Direction

Kian Egan thinks One Direction will go far on The X Factor 2010

Westlife's Kian Egan reckons One Direction could win The X Factor - because they're so much like his own band.

The singer has been impressed with Zain Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan on the ITV show.  

'They are completely like a young Westlife,' he explains.

Kian, 30, also claims Simon Cowell, 51, is using all the same tricks that he used to give Westlife their break in 1998 to turn One Direction into stars.

'Simon had such an influence in us, it's no surprise that he is using the same formula with the boys,' he tells The Sun.

'They should just enjoy it - this is the best time for a new band. Let's hope they are doing it 14 years on...

'But I'm not sure if Simon will get them in white suits sitting on stools!'

Westlife are managed by Louis Walsh but are signed to Simon's record label.
