Fern Britton 'signs up' for Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special

TV star Fern Britton tipped to be teamed with Brendan Cole

Fern Britton took part in Let's Dance For Comic Relief in 2009

Fern Britton will reportedly take part in the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special.

The former This Morning host was approached by bosses after appearing on Let's Dance For Comic Relief last year.  

'Fern's really excited about taking part and is watching the current series for inspiration,' a source tells The Sun.

'There's no way of knowing yet if she'll be up to scratch in the Latin and ballroom numbers - but she did very well in Let's Dance!'

Fern - who's lost 6st since having a gastric band op in 2006 - is expected to be partnered with Brendan Cole, 34.

The 53-year-old will be joined by 5 other celebs on the one-off show. 

This year, for the first time, the contestants won't have taken part in Strictly before. 

The special will air on Christmas Day.
