Kieron Richardson plays Ste Hay in Hollyoaks

Hollyoaks star Kieron Richardson has revealed he is homosexual.

The actor, who plays Ste Hay in the Channel 4 soap, made the emotional admission on This Morning today.

‘I feel completely comfortable with it,' said Kieron. ‘We don't live in the dark ages anymore, we love in the 21st century.

‘I haven't melted. It's not wrong. You shouldn't be ashamed of it.'

Kieron, 24, says he wanted to come out to hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield because he grew close to them while appearing on Dancing On Ice earlier this year.

‘I'm a nervous person and it's quite a big thing to say,' he added. ‘I'd rather do it here with you two.'
