Jennifer Love Hewitt played a prostitute called Samantha Horton in The Client List

Jennifer Love Hewitt says her mum Patricia Mae supported her decision to play a prostitute in a new TV movie.

The actress starred as a hooker called Samantha Horton in The Client List, which aired in the States last night.

'My mum's like, "I'm so proud. You're pole dancing and you're going to play a prostitute. Awesome!"' Jennifer tells Entertainment Tonight.

'I would send my mum pictures from the set and we would joke about it. I would say, "Mum, are you proud?" and she would say, "It's what I've always dreamt for you."'

Jennifer, 31, took up pole dancing to get in shape for the role.

The Client List was inspired by a true story.
