Dev Patel and Nicholas Hoult have signed up for the Skins movie, which will go into production later this year.

The teen drama is one of E4's biggest hits and has pulled in more than a million viewers over the years. 

'Given the huge amount of support from the ever expanding fan base of the series, we feel that we can go much further and produce yet another unique Skins experience,' says Charlie Pattinson, director of Company Pictures.

'It is very exciting to be migrating across from E4 to Film4,' says Tessa Ross, controller of Film4.

'This extraordinarily talented team from Skins have successfully grown such a wonderfully loyal audience over the course of the last four series.'

Skins had four successful seasons on E4, the last of which finished at the beginning of this year.
