Screen pair's final scenes to air in late 2010

Coronation Street stars Steven Arnold and Julia Haworth are leaving the soap

Coronation Street couple Ashley and Claire Peacock and their two children are being written out of the ITV soap.

Actors Steven Arnold and Julia Haworth and producer Phil Collinson have agreed their characters have run their course.

‘Both the actors and myself felt we had reached a crossroads with the characters to the point that as actors they were not being fulfilled and stories were harder to find,' says Phil in a statement.

‘We mutually decided to start working towards an exit for the Peacock family, giving the actors the opportunity to explore new opportunities and for us to devise a dramatic exit storyline.

‘I wish Steven and Julia, and of course the young boys who play Josh and Freddie, all the best for the future.'

Steven and Julia's final scenes on Corrie will be shown later this year.
