The cast of Desperate Housewives have pledged their support for the show's creator after Nicollette Sheridan filed a $20million lawsuit against him.
The actress, who played Edie Britt in the series, is suing Marc Cherry for assault, alleging he struck her during a rehearsal on set on 28 September 2008.
Nicollette, 46, also accuses Marc and network ABC for wrongful termination of her contract, claiming her character was written out of the show when she complained to bosses.
Now Eva Longoria, Teri Hatcher, Marcia Cross and Felicity Huffman have issued a joint statement in response.
'It would be irresponsible of us to let the public believe that being a part of this show from its inception has been anything but a blessing,' it reads.
'We have no first-hand knowledge of what Nicollette may or may not have experienced, but we would never characterise our set as a hostile environment.
'It is, in fact, the opposite. The friendships and support that Marc Cherry, the cast, the crew and the producers have shared for the past six years have made this a wonderful job that we are grateful for every day.'
