Geri Halliwell has credited Robbie Williams with saving her life after she developed bulimia.

The Take That star, 36, recommended Ginger Spice check into the Cottonwood Du Tuscon rehab clinic in Arizona for treatment.

Robbie knew about my bulimia and he advised me to get help,' Geri told Piers Morgan's Life Stories.

‘He told me to go into rehab and that possibly saved my life. The bulimia would have got worse without it.

'I will always be grateful to him, always... I am happy and healthy now.'

Geri, 37, had the eating disorder after quitting the Spice Girls in 1998 and dropped to 7st.

‘I became really close to Robbie after leaving the Spice Girls and it was a very poignant friendship,' she says.

‘I was lonely and felt he was the only person on the planet who could understand me because of his experiences with Take That. We understood each other.'

Geri's interview on Piers Morgan's Life Stories airs on ITV1 on 3 April at 9.25pm.
