Memorial held for Corrie's Maggie Jones

Filming of the ITV soap is halted

Maggie Jones played Blanche Hunt in Coronation Street

A public memorial was held for Coronation Street star Maggie Jones yesterday.

Over 100 cast and crew and 500 fans attended Salford Cathedral for the service. 

Bill Roache, who stars as Ken Barlow, led tributes to Maggie, who played Blanche Hunt. 

'She simply stole every scene she was in,' he said. 

Maggie died in hospital in December aged 75. 

She will be given an on-screen funeral later this year.

Filming on Corrie was suspended yesterday.
