Jennifer Lopez to star in How I Met Your Mother

Singer to play self-help guru Anita Appleby

Jennifer Lopez's episode of How I Met Your Mother airs in the States in March

Jennifer Lopez has signed up to appear in hit US show How I Met Your Mother.

The singer, 40, follows in the footsteps of Britney Spears and Rachel Bilson.

Jennifer will play Anita Appleby, a self-help guru who tries to make Neil Patrick Harris' character give up his womanising ways.

‘We're looking forward to a week of revealing outfits and sexy dance moves the likes of which this show hasn't seen since Regis Philbin guest starred,' says co-creator Carter Bays.

Jennifer is also in talks about a cameo in Glee.

How I Met Your Mother is shown on E4 in the UK.
