Davina McCall: I cried when I heard Big Brother was ending

But the TV presenter has a new show to keep her busy

Davina McCall and Big Brother have grown up together

Big Brother may be coming 
to an end in 2010, but presenter Davina McCall 
is keeping her mind off its sad demise with a new job as host of Sky One's 
new dancing contest Got To Dance 
- not to mention the new series of Celebrity Big Brother.

'I felt so sad when they told me that it was finishing,' says Davina, 42, 'but I'm glad we've got a year to knock everyone's socks off and have a really fond farewell.

'I think when the series starts 
I'll be full of nostalgia and feeling: "This will 
be the last first night we'll ever do!"'

Davina wept when she found out it Big Brother was finishing.

'My lovely producer Phil called me 
to tell me,' she recalls. 'When I got off the phone I told Matthew [husband Matthew Robertson] and then I cried a lot. I'm going 
to miss Big Brother so much.

'I thought it could've gone on, but I know the ratings last year took a bit of a hit. So I guess that even though it was getting twice as many viewers as any other show on Channel 4 at that time, it still wasn't good for Big Brother. 


'In real terms I had to wake up, smell the 
coffee and think that maybe it was time. If it'd happened a year and a half ago, I'd have felt very differently about it. I'd have been very frightened, but 
I'm not frightened now.'
