David Tennant can't believe the level of support he's had since starring in Doctor Who.

The actor has become a household name and is mobbed by fans.

‘It's been overwhelming at times,' says David. ‘Wherever you go people know you for Doctor Who.

‘And then you go into the supermarket and there's your face on a cake and there's your face on a T-shirt, or a jigsaw or a little plastic figure.

'It's quite unlike anything else I can imagine doing.'

David, 38, will be replaced by Matt Smith after the two-part Christmas special.

‘It's been an incredible time,' he tells the BBC. ‘It's been a real privilege.'
