Cheryl Cole has revealed she was asked to be a judge on Britain's Got Talent.

The Girls Aloud singer never took up the offer and joined the panel on The X Factor instead.

‘I was supposed to do Britain's Got Talent,' she said on her ITV show Cheryl Cole's Night In.

'I had a few phone calls and stuff about Britain's Got Talent and was on the verge of doing it.'

The job eventually went to Amanda Holden, 38.

'I do love Amanda,' added Cheryl, 26. 'I think she is amazing on there.

'But I think The X Factor was the right thing for me at the right time. It was meant to be.'
