Kate Garraway has apologised to Mariah Carey for claiming she acted like a diva when she appeared on GMTV last month.
Although the 42-year-old didn't even interview the singer, 39, she later revealed some wild and unfounded backstage gossip in her magazine column.
‘She had two people to lower her on to the GMTV sofa, in case her dress got crushed,' said Kate.
'And one person to walk in front of her backwards at all times in case she fell over and several people behind the camera making sure she was going to be filmed from the right angle!'
But after Mariah's people got in touch, Kate has now decided to set the record straight.
'I am really sorry about the furore I caused last week,' she writes in her new! diary. 'It was wrong for me to add some jokes and gossip about Mariah being a diva.
'Her management have now told me that I got hold of the wrong end of the stick completely and I am still reeling from the massive ticking off my bosses gave me for fuelling the rumours that she is unreasonably demanding...
'I am so sorry, Mariah, and I really hope you come back to the UK soon.'

Kate Garraway needs to get her facts right, she seems to be a know it all anyway. Just stick to what you are good at .......ummmmm what is that ? Don't like her as a presenter as she always talks over he co hosts and when I see she is on the sofa in the mornings I switch over to BBC
