Peter Kay is to present the 2010 Brit Awards, his rep has confirmed to Now Online.

The comedian, 36, will take over from this year's hosts James Corden and Mat Horne.

Peter was the clear first choice,' a source tells The Sun. ‘And everything has now been agreed.

‘It is a special Brits because it's the 30th anniversary so we needed a big name. There's no one with a better pedigree or a better style of delivery which appeals to all ages.'

The Brit Awards will air on ITV1 on 16 February.
