His world came crashing down when he ended up in the bottom two after being hotly tipped to scoop this year's X Factor crown.
We catch up with man of the moment Danyl Johnson, 27, to find out how he's coping with his fall from grace...
Are you still pinching yourself after meeting Bon Jovi and JLS?
Yes! How cool is that? Bon Jovi are just legends and it was great picking JLS's brains about how to get through the competition without going insane.
Has it been tough coping with all the negative press you've received?
I don't read the papers because good and bad stuff can go to your head or get you down. You can't get away from it because people will let you know about different things, but I just try to keep focused and keep my mind on the game in hand.
Rumour has it you've been labelled ‘Monica from friends' for your cleaning obsession.
I know, I can't help it. But it's great when you come back to your room and it's all nice and tidy and you don't have to do anything.
Do you think Simon saying you were the best first audition has put pressure on you?
Yeah. You think: ‘Great, now I'm gonna be rubbish.' I totally suffered from that because it was like, ‘what else do I do?' and there was really only one place I could go from there. But Simon's on our side. I speak to him all the time.
