ITV show Coronation Street has had a beer named after it.

Billboards featuring Rovers Return barmaids Bet Lynch, played by actress Julie Goodyear, and Betty Williams (Betty Driver, 89) will go up around the country to promote the product.

The 4.2% Coronation Street Premium Ale is brewed by JW Lees and hits supermarkets this week.

'Coronation Street is one of the most famous streets in the world,' Managing Director William Lees-Jones tells the Coronation Street blog.

'With our shared Manchester heritage, we're excited to be teaming up with them to provide a premium quality draft ale which will be as complex and robust as a good Corrie plot line.'
