Cheryl Cole admits she sometimes finds it hard to tollerate Simon Cowell.

The Girls Aloud star gets wound up by the music mogul, 50, on The X Factor.

‘There is tension between us on the actual Saturday night, when he starts getting annoying and saying nasty things,' Cheryl, 26, tells the BBC.

‘It gets quite heated backstage, and quite competitive. I feel like the best person should win The X Factor, whether they're in my category or not.

‘But he's so competitive and so rude sometimes that I find myself getting caught up in it. Honestly, he's really annoying. Really annoying.'

Asked why she doesn't just ‘lamp' him, Cheryl jokes: ‘I should, shouldn't I?'

The X Factor continues on ITV1 at 8pm on Saturday.
