Ricky Gervais to host Golden Globes

Comedian will have ‘free reign'

Ricky Gervais shot to fame starring in The Office

Ricky Gervais is to present the Golden Globe Awards in January.

The Extras star was approached by organisers after he stole the show at this year's event when he appeared on stage to present one of the prizes. 

Ricky, 48, has previously rejected similar offers - but he accepted this time because he has been promised a ‘free reign' as host.

‘There are just some things you don't turn down,' he tells The Press Association.

The Golden Globes will take place on 17 January in Beverly Hills.
