Rikky Loney has sung for the last time on The X Factor

Rikki Loney was booted off The X Factor tonight after ending up in the bottom two with Rachel Adedeji.

Louis Walsh was not on the judge's panel for the second week as he flew to Dublin for the funeral of Boyzone's Stephen Gately.

Cheryl Cole performed her new single Fight For This Love in a sexy red uniform and Whitney Houston - who is promoting new album I Look To You - took to the stage in a floor-length silver dress.

The diva had a wardrobe malfunction, which was rather distracting. She looked in constant danger of tripping on the hem of her frock and then the fastening at the back sprang open.

When asked what she thought about the contestants, she stared into space before advising them to 'practice, practive, practice'.

Rachel, 17 - who Simon Cowell admitted he was very surprised to see fighting for her place last week - was devastated to be in the sing-off again.

Rikki, 21, also looked gutted and appeared to be repeating either a mantra or a prayer while Dermot O'Leary called out the names of those going through, with John and Edward the final 'safe' contestants.

Rachel chose to perform U2's With Or Without You - crying at the end - and Rikki sang Westlife's Flying Without Wings, his favourite song.

Simon ended up with the deciding vote as Dannii and Cheryl voted for their own acts and he decided to send Rikki home.
