Mischa Barton's new show is cancelled

The Beautiful Life is axed after two episodes

Mischa Barton's latest TV series has been dropped - because it failed to pull in viewers.

The CW network cancelled The Beautiful Life after two shows when little over 1million people tuned in to watch the season premiere.

It will be replaced by repeats of the updated version of Melrose Place.

In the programme, Mischa, 23, played a model struggling with a drug problem.

The cast - including Elle Macpherson, 46, and High School Musical's Corbin Bleu, 20 - were told the bad news during filming of the seventh episode.

Executive producer Ashton Kutcher, 31, has posted a link to a petition to save The Beautiful Life on Twitter.
