The notoriously private rap superstar opens up about married life

Jay-Z reveals that he was a 'reluctant rapper'

Jay-Z is the biggest rap star in the world, having just hit No 1 with Run This Town, his collaboration with protégée Rihanna and Kanye West.

He’s done it all: won Grammy awards, married the stunning Beyonce, launched a own clothing line… so was it always his plan to be world famous?

'No, I just wanted to make my first album Reasonable Doubt,' he tells Now. 'Then I thought about getting into the business side of music. I was a reluctant rapper

'I never wanted to be a superstar – I just wanted a job like most people.'

A very private person, Jay-Z made sure his wedding day in April 2008 a very secretive affair.

'The sad part is that we offended some,' the musician admits. 'But people who love you understand. Because at the end of the day, it's your day.'

Jay-Z and Beyonce keep the romance in their relationship by 'dating' every week.

'There’s a great pizza spot we go to every Sunday. It’s our tradition. It’s a small place in Brooklyn – you can bring your own wine and there are candles there. It’s a nice date.'
