Fern Britton to battle Holly Willoughby for TV gong

Presenters go head-to-head at the National Television Awards

Fern Britton left This Morning this year after 10 years on the show

Fern Britton and This Morning replacement Holly Willoughby are to go head-to-head at this year’s National Television Awards.

The nominations were announced this week and they both appear in the Best Entertainment Presenter category.

The pair will be up against Ant and Dec, who will be going for a record 9th win. Paul O’Grady and Dermot O’Leary will also be competing for the title.

Other nominations include Strictly Come Dancing and The X Factor for Most-Loved Talent Show and Gavin & Stacey for Best Comedy Programme.

EastEnders will also be hoping to extend its 4-year reign as Best Serial Drama.

The National Television Awards will take place at the O2 Arena on 20 January 2010 (voting is completed by 30 September 2009).
