Karren Brady will take over from Margaret Mountford on The Apprentice.

The businesswoman will monitor the contestants for Sir Alan Sugar with Nick Hewer.

Lord Sugar has decided to appoint Karren Brady, who has appeared in The Apprentice before,’ confirms production company Talkback Thames.

Karren, 40, has previously led the girls' team to victory on the celebrity version of the programme for Comic Relief in March 2006.

Margaret quit the BBC show earlier this year to concentrate on her PhD in papyrology.
