Ex-American Idol judge Paula Abdul in talks with rival show

Nigel Lythgoe admits he's keen to sign her up

Paula Abdul announced she'd quit American Idol on micro-blogging site Twitter

Paula Abdul could join So You Think You Can Dance? following her exit from American Idol. 

The show's producer Nigel Lythgoe confirms he’s met with Paula, 47, to discuss a role. 

‘I don’t know anybody that’s had her experience of being a dancer, of being a choreographer and of being a judge,’ he tells Variety.

Bosses on rival reality show Dancing With The Stars have also shown interest in Paula.

‘I was a little stunned by the decision, and we would love to have her,’ ABC Entertainment President Stephen McPherson tells People.

‘I think she’s a huge talent. There’s a sensitivity and an empathy that balances out Idol, and we’d love to get a piece of that.’

Victoria Beckham and Katy Perry have been signed up as guest judges on Idol.
