Matt Smith's Doctor Who costume revealed

Actor will wear a tweed jacket and bow tie

Matt Smith was spotted filming his first scenes for Doctor Who on location in Cardiff

The new Doctor Who will dress like a nerd.

Matt Smith is replacing David Tennant, 38, as the 11th Time Lord.

And in promotional images the actor is seen in his costume for the first time.

The 26-year-old wears a tweed jacket, bow tie, rolled up trousers and black boots.

‘I feel very privileged and proud to be part of this iconic show,’ he tells the BBC.
 
‘The scripts are brilliant - I'm excited about the future and all the brilliant adventures I get to go on as the Doctor.’

David’s final episodes air later this year, while Matt won't be seen on screen until 2010.
