Inbetweeners' James Buckley to star in new BBC show

Actor cast in student comedy

Inbetweeners' James Buckley to star in new BBC show
The Inbetweeners won Best New Comedy at the British Comedy Awards

James Buckley has been signed up for new BBC comedy Off The Hook.

The actor, 23, who plays Jay Cartwright in the cult E4 series The Inbetweeners, is to star in the comedy as it moves from online to TV.

'Off The Hook is an aspirational comedy which combines superb storylines with a young British cast,' BBC's Geoffrey Goodwin says.

'Moving a show from online to TV is a great creative process which allows us to really develop the show and nurture the talent while building up a dedicated following online so that the show has a lot of thrust and energy behind it when it hits TV.'

James will be joined by Jonathan Bailey, Danny Morgan and Joanna Cassidy in the show – which features university students.

Off The Hook is set to be shown on BBC Two and BBC Three in September.
