Lost's Matthew Fox to quit TV

Actor wants to launch his movie career

Matthew Fox
The 6th and final series of Lost will air at the start of next year

Matthew Fox will ditch his TV career when the final series of Lost ends.

The actor, who plays Dr Jack Shephard in the US show, wants to spend more time with his family.

And he reckons launching his movie career will give him more flexibility.

'I am not going to do television again,' Matthew tells WENN.

'I have done two TV shows - Lost and Party Of Five - that have each run for 6 years. I want to find a way to have more control over when I am working and when I'm not.

'I am 42 and a father of two children and I don't want to miss them growing up. I don't want to find myself 10 years from now feeling like I was an absentee father because I was so focused on my career.'

Matthew and wife Margherita are parents to sons Kyle, 12, and Byron, 8.
