Rachel Stevens: It's really bad they got rid of Arlene

Former contestant sticks up for fired judge

Rachel Stevens was beaten by Tom Chambers in the Strictly Come Dancing final in 2008

Rachel Stevens has spoken out about Arlene Phillips' axe from Strictly Come Dancing.

The singer, 31, was runner-up on the BBC show last year.

'I think it's really bad they have got rid of Arlene,' she tells the Daily Star.

'She brought loads of experience to the show and knew what she was talking about.'

Arlene was replaced on the judging panel by Alesha Dixon, 30.  

Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One in September.
