TV chef takes offence to spelling comment
Thursday, 9 July 2009
Jamie Oliver branded one of his Twitter followers an ‘idiot’ after they criticised his spelling.
A poster calling himself Funditfrog pointed out four mistakes in one of the chef's tweets on the micro-blogging site.
‘Not being funny fella but 4 spelling mistakes?’ they wrote. ‘You're influencing a generation of kids, you owe it them to be correct. Agree?’
But an angry Jamie, 33, hit back saying: 'Get lost you idiot im dislexic and i cant spell so stick that in your pipe and smoke it!!! its better than being smug [sic],’
Funditfrog has since replied: 'Who'd have thought a little friendly banter on your part would be so misinterpreted by the press? Take care buddy’.

There's a huge amount of adults out there that could be dyslexic.
Me too... took me years to learn how to spell dyslexia. I still watch in horror as the spell checker flags stuff in red all over the place or automatically corrects it. I love Fire Fox because it has a spell checker for comment boxes such as this.
It's amazing how so many people judge inteligence based upon spelling ability. How did our society become so ignorant to the many forms of inteligence! (Yes , I spelled inteligence wrong on purpose.) I have many loved ones who are dyslexic that are brilliant, creative and EXTREMELY intelligent. Much more so than me - a childhood success in spelling bees and memorization tasks. WAKE UP WORLD. The dyslexic population may be the next progression in human development and intelligence. It's time to address this prejudice.
