Celebrities celebrate life of EastEnders actress
Monday, 6 July 2009
Wendy Richard’s former co-stars turned out to pay tribute to her yesterday.
David Croft – who created her sitcom Are You Being Served? - unveiled a plaque in Mayfair to mark where the EastEnders actress grew up.
It's been placed on the Shepherd's Tavern, the pub Wendy’s parents ran when she was a child.
Todd Carty, Natalie Cassidy, James Alexandrou and Les Dennis were just some of the stars who attended.
‘She meant the world to me, like a second mum,’ said Todd. ‘She knew me from a very young age. We hit it off from the first minute.’
Wendy died of cancer in February aged 65.
