Michelle Heaton: My best friend Jordan's in therapy

Jordan asked her best friend to speak to Now and reveal the truth of her love split

Depressed Jordan is seeing a therapist to help her overcome her split with Peter Andre, according to her best friend Michelle Heaton.

In an exclusive interview with Now, Michelle reveals the trauma that Jordan – real name Katie Price – is going through as she faces up to life without Peter.

Michelle had Jordan’s permission to speak to us as Jordan wanted her close pal to tell her version of the story for the very first time.

‘Kate’s stressed, vulnerable, exhausted and hurting inside,’ the former Liberty X singer tells us. ‘I never thought I’d have to speak publicly about her, but how much longer can people keep making up stories?

‘She’s one of the strongest women I know, but she’s asking: “What am I supposed to do?” It’s about time someone came forward and told her story. Basically, this is Kate’s story through me.’

Since the couple split on 11 May, the pain has become so intense for Jordan, 31, that she's reverted back to the therapist who helped nurse her through postnatal depression after her daughter Princess was born in June 2007.

‘She speaks to her therapist and she’s had a few sessions. She’s like a friend of the family,’ says Michelle, 28. ‘Kate can only talk to certain people such as her family and close friends like me, so it’s just a release.

‘Kate’s had her therapist since the year dot. She comes to her house and she’ll carry on doing so as long as she needs to. But Kate’s not on antidepressants or sleeping pills – she doesn’t feel the need to be on them.’

Michelle says that Jordan’s lowest moment came on her 31st birthday on 22 May. It was a karaoke party and she got up in front of her friends and family to sing her and Pete’s wedding song A Whole New World. ‘It was the only time I’ve seen her cry,’ Michelle tells us. ‘It was her saddest moment.

'In Jordan’s eyes, there’s only one road ahead for the couple: divorce.

‘She wants to divorce as soon as possible and she’s hoping she’ll find love again,’ Michelle tells us. ‘She wants to be sexy – even though she’s a mum, Jordan has never left the building.'
