On the eve of Big Brother 10, the ambitious star splits from her agent
Wednesday, 27 May 2009
As the countdown to the new series of Big Brother on 4 June begins, Davina McCall has dumped her second agent in the space of a year.
She’s said to be determined to win more serious and high profile television jobs as well as continuing to host Big Brother.
‘Davina will never be happy unless she’s making millions and is a respected TV star,’ says our source. ‘But she can’t goof around on screen for three months of the year and then wonder why she gets overlooked for primetime shows. She won’t quit BB as she likes the money and the hours.’
Davina, 41, split from her agent of 13 years John Noel last May after being told that she’d never achieve her ambitions while hosting BB.
Her only serious presenting stint ended in disaster when her BBC1 chat show Davina was axed in April 2006 after just three months.
Davina hated the fact that other John Noel stars, such as Russell Brand, were making it in the US and she was lagging behind.
She moved to MF Management, which looks after the likes of Billie Piper and Sacha Baron Cohen.
Now, a year on, she’s jumped ship again and joined James Grant Media, who look after Simon Cowell and Ant and Dec.
Last week, Davina ruled out quitting Big Brother, saying: ‘If it carries on, I’m bloody doing it.’ Although she reportedly earned £85,000 a show last year, associates say it didn’t satisfy her ego.
