Fern Britton: I thought about quitting This Morning for two years

Presenter's excited about spending time with family

Fern Britton met her husband Phil Vickery on the set of TV show Ready Steady Cook

Fern Britton has revealed she decided to leave This Morning two years ago.

The presenter announced her decision to quit in March and will front her last show on 17 July.

‘[I’ve been thinking about if for] two years, it takes a long time, and I don’t jump into things,’ says Fern.

‘You mull it over and mull it over and actually you’ve done all your goodbyes and things in your mind over those two years. Then you go, and everyone else is surprised.’

Fern, 51, wants to spend more time with husband Phil Vickery and their four kids.

‘I was missing the children and not seeing much of Phil and not being mistress in my own home any more,’ she tells The Paul O’Grady Show.

‘All I’ll do is get up, take the children to school, nip down to the local supermarket, go home, hang the washing out. I like that.’
