Singing ballerina was close to having lung removed
Monday, 27 April 2009
Britain's Got Talent star Hollie Steel nearly died after catching pneumonia at the age of 4.
Doctors even considered cutting out one of her lungs.
‘She was in hospital for three months and there were moments when it was life and death,’ mum Nina, 37, tells the Sunday People.
'She was all skin and bones and doctors thought she might not recover. Even when she stabilised, they told me they would have to remove a lung.
'I was in bits and at times thought she might not make it, or if she did, she wouldn't be able to lead a normal life.
'Now she has this amazing voice that melts your heart - it's a miracle she can sing at all.’
Hollie, 10, wore a tutu on the show as she belted out I Could Have Danced All Night from My Fair Lady.
She is now tipped as one of the favourites to win Britain’s Got Talent, along with Susan Boyle, 48, and Shaheen Jafargholi, 12.
Dance group Diversity also impressed the judges on Saturday’s show.
