Soap's Sean Tully to stay until July 2010
Thursday, 26 March 2009
Coronation Street favourite Antony Cotton will remain on the show for at least another year.
The actor, 33, who plays camp factory worker Sean Tully, has signed a new contract that ends in July 2010.
And bosses have penned a romantic storyline for his character, who falls in love with a man he meets at the Mr Gay Weatherfield contest.
'Anthony loves playing Sean,' an insider tells The Sun. 'He helped create the character and is thrilled with the new storyline.'
But newcomer Philip McGinley, 27, who plays Tom Kerrigan, has been axed after less than a year on the soap.
'Ta to everyone who's said they're sad I'm leaving Corrie,' says Philip. 'Its always good to try something new.'
Philip's last scenes will be aired in May.
