Sir Alan Sugar: Money is better than sex!

The business admits the truth about cash

Thursday, 26 March 2009

Sir Alan Sugar is back on BBC1's The Apprentice and it's going to be great. He explains why there are only 15 contestants instead of the planned 16….

'There’s nothing sinister about it,' he says. 'The night before, the reality hit home and done him in. It made my job easier!'

Sir Alan reckons the remaining hopefuls are a bright bunch - but nobody can outwit him.

'We’re focusing on people who can actually perform,' he explains. 'But this year’s contestants think they can second guess me. For one task, they thought they were off on a trip abroad and they all brought their passports with them, but they ended up in Manchester instead.'

Contestant Ben Clarke reckons making money's better than sex and Sir Alan doesn't disagree.

'It depends,' he insists. 'You should’ve asked me 30 years ago. Definitely, now, making money’s my priority.'

Our key four contestants in The Apprentice to watch

The Hottie: Kate Walsh, 27
Licensing development manager
She’s the prettiest of the bunch. We’re betting one of the lads gets distracted before the 12 weeks are up.

The Sexist: Majid Nagra, 28
Business development manager
He makes less-than-flattering comments about women. Our favourite? ‘I employ a cleaner: my wife!’ Not a good start.

The Mouth: Mona Lewis, 28
Senior business manager
This former Tanzanian beauty queen and mother of one is soon calling the shots and bossing every one about.

The Stud: Ben Clarke, 22
Trainee stockbroker
He might say that he prefers money to sex, but this former Gavin Henson lookalike cites Hugh Hefner as a role model. Watch out girls…

Claire Young joins Now
She was pipped at the post last year, but no one stood out more than businesswoman Claire Young, 29 – and she’ll be sharing her insights on this year’s series in her own no-holds-barred column, only in Now!
