Gerard McCarthy to quit Hollyoaks

Actor is third star to quit soap in recent weeks

Gerard McCarthy plans to leave Hollyoaks in the summer

Gerard McCarthy is set to leave Hollyoaks this summer.

The actor, 28, who has played cross-dressing bisexual student Kris Fisher since 2006, is ready for a change.

‘There comes a time when every character reaches a point when it’s natural and believable for them to leave,’ he tells Inside Soap. ‘I think Kris’s end should be this summer after he graduates.’

Gerard’s announcement comes soon after two other Hollyoaks stars announced their own impending moves.

Chris Fountain, who plays Justin Burton, and Jamie Lomas, who plays Warren Fox, will leave the show together in a dramatic storyline involving a fire at The Loft.
