There are 15 candidates instead of 16 at the start of this year's Apprentice

The new series of The Apprentice will feature one less contestant than last year.

A male contestant dropped out of the hit BBC show at the last minute.

Sir Alan Sugar, 61, never met the unidentified man, but in the first episode he tells the remaining group that he ‘bottled it’.

‘It was just that he got himself into his hotel room that night and realised that “This is it, I'm away from up to 12 weeks from my family and my kids,” and I think the reality hit home,’ he tells the BBC.

The Apprentice kicks off on BBC One on 25 March at 9pm.
