Ashlee Simpson is to star in the remake of Melrose Place.
The singer will play the lead character Violet, a small-town girl who moves to LA with a secret.
‘I'm thrilled to be joining the cast of Melrose Place,’ Ashlee tells Us Weekly.
‘I look forward to being a part of its new generation of residents.’
Ashlee and her husband Pete Wentz, 29, will appear in a CSI: New York episode, which airs in the States on 18 March.
Ashlee, 24, was also a regular in two seasons of US drama 7th Heaven.
The original Melrose Place ran between 1992 and 1999.

Pleeeeease.... Not Ashlee Simpson!!!! I've watched some of the original Melrose Place, and me and my friends were looking foward to watch the new version... But, after we found out that Ashlee Simpson is going to be on the show - we are NOT GOING TO WATCH IT!!! Must those Simpson sisters be everywhere??? At least Jessica can sing and her hair extensions with Ken Paves are good too... Please DO NOT put Ashlee Simpson in Melrose Place!!!
