The Hills star reveals all about her glam life in New York

After the success of The Hills, it was only a matter of time before one of the girls got their own spin-off show – and here it is!

You managed to keep a lot of your private life off-camera on The Hills – why did you decide to be more open for The City?
When I found out that MTV wanted to follow my move to New York, I thought it would be so much fun. A couple of times a week I’ll break down and wish the cameras weren’t there, but I’m mostly happy.
How much of what we see on the show is real?
It’s all very real. It has to be a little bit produced so that we get filming permits for places, but the drama you see is all real.
Is your life as glam as it looks?
Definitely not! It’s a TV show, so obviously they’re going to make everything look beautiful. But when I’m just being me I like to hang out in jeans and a T-shirt. I’m not constantly gracing red carpets or going to parties.
Your clothes on the show are amazing – are they all yours?
Yeah. Everything I wear is from my own closet.
How do you keep in shape?
I work out a couple of times a week. I don’t believe in extreme diets, but I watch what I eat. I do let myself have treats, like French fries!
What do you do on your days off?
I like to sleep, hang out with friends or just walk around New York.
How often do you speak to Lauren Conrad now?
We phone each other a couple of times a week. She’s helped me out a lot because she was in this position when she left Laguna Beach for The Hills, so I really look to her for guidance.
When did you last see Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt?
At the Hills season finale in December. It’s definitely not awkward for me when I bump into them, like it is for Lauren. I wouldn’t say I’m close friends with them, but I have an amicable relationship with all of the Hills cast.
Do the paparazzi follow you everywhere now?
Yes. It’s so weird. It’s not too overwhelming, but sometimes it gets a little frustrating if
I want to do something and don’t want any eyes watching.
