Carol Thatcher has fled to Switzerland following her sacking from The One Show.

The I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! winner was axed by the BBC after referring to a black tennis player as a ‘golliwog’ during a backstage chat.

'I've asked the media to stop using my name as I don't want this kind of hassle,' Carol's agent tells the Sunday Express.

'It's been an awful time. We've even had death threats.'

Meanwhile, show host Adrian Chiles, 41, has broken his silence over the scandal.

‘I don’t believe she is a racist — it was just her utterly inappropriate way of saying he was black,’ he writes in The Sun.

‘Call me politically correct, but it’s totally horrible to call a black person a golliwog — and even worse to then try to duck it by saying it was a joke.’
