Madonna's rumoured beau Alex Rodriguez is officially divorced.

The baseball star split from wife Cynthia, 34, in 2008 after five years of marriage.

The couple, who have two daughters, were granted the divorce on 12 January at the Miami-Dade County Court.

At the time of their separation, Cynthia’s lawyers claimed Alex’s blossoming friendship with Madonna was the ‘last straw’.

Madge, 50, has always rubbished claims she was responsible for the breakdown of the 33-year-old's marriage.

'I am not romantically involved in any way with Alex Rodriguez,' she said last year.

'I have nothing to do with the state of his marriage.'
