Naomi Watts: Heath Ledger’s death is still incredibly difficult

Actress often thinks of her ex-partner

Naomi Watts has opened up about why she fell in love with ex-boyfriend Heath Ledger.

The actress met Heath while shooting Ned Kelly in 2002.

The 28-year-old died a year ago after an accidental overdose of prescription drugs.

‘When I got to the set and did that first scene with him, I was like, “Wow! This guy is alive,”’ she says.

‘It was just something deep in his eyes. You could look into them, and they would tell a thousand stories in one glance.

'There was a wonderful mixture of power and fragility at work in everything he did, which just pulls you in.

'His strength didn't scare you. It intrigued you. And his fragility touched you.'

Naomi, 40, and Heath split in 2004, and she admits she often thinks of him.

'It's still incredibly difficult,’ she tells Parade.

She now has newborn son Samuel Kai, and one-year-old son Alexander, with Liev Schreiber, 41.
