David Tennant has been forced to pull out of his sell-out stage show while he recovers from a dodgy back.

The Doctor Who star is currently starring as Hamlet in a Royal Shakespeare Company production at London's Novello Theatre.

But David has so far missed this week’s performances because he is unwell.

‘He is gutted, not only at the thought of disappointing audiences but also to be unable to perform a role that he has worked on and developed,’ an RSC spokesperson tells the Daily Record.

Co-star Edward Bennett will fill in for David, 37, in his absence.
